What differentiates Hummingbird Farms body care is the fact that aloe vera (aloe barbadensis) is the primary ingredient in most of our products. All of our creams, lotions, and liquid soaps are aloe-based rather than water-based, and you will notice that aloe is the first ingredient listed, not water.
Not all aloe is the same...
Using a proprietary process, our aloe is harvested and processed on-site and on-time within the critical two hour window, which is the only way to ensure aloe vera is preserved at its peak freshness. Rich and dense in vitamins A, E and C, and in minerals - magnesium, calcium, selenium and zinc - you can be assured that our aloe has maintained the authenticity of its skin-loving nutrients due to our state of the art harvesting techniques.
A little goes a long way….
Starting with aloe as a base means value, and you will find that you will use less per application versus water-based products. Aloe vera has a long and very well established history of being a healing plant for the skin due to its hydrating and moisturizing properties, and is the most studied herb in the natural products category. Because of this, where water would be used in most formulations, we have replaced it with aloe vera.
Our creams, lotions and liquid soaps range in aloe concentrations from 40% to 70%.
Aloe vera is of small molecular structure, which means it absorbs quickly into your skin. This is why all of our aloe-based lotions and creams absorb quickly and are not greasy. Think of aloe as the carrier that brings all of the essential nutrients deep into your skin to hydrate, replenish and balance. Water sits on top of your skin and often evaporates before delivering nutrients.
Healthy skin is balanced skin, and aloe vera mirrors what our skin's pH should be in its most healthy state. We find this fascinating! There is no need to replicate or synthesize in a lab what Mother Nature does naturally. We have been formulating aloe-based products since 2005. Although this process requires painstaking and time-consuming research, we think you will agree the results are worth it!
